Private Classes
Many climbers realize that with a skilled, professional guide they can optimize their recreational time and experience greater levels of difficulty with a higher level of safety. Working individually with a guide is the fastest way to improve technique. No matter your level, I offer a wide range of classic, enjoyable, and challenging routes. Available to individuals or small groups, guided climbing is essentially private instruction, and can be scheduled to accommodate your agenda. If you have a specific climb or goal in mind, let me know. I'll design a program especially for you to get there. That's what guided climbing is all about. Lead Climbing
This comprehensive course encompasses a wide array of lead climbing skills. The topics include but are not limited to advanced protection placements and equalization techniques, racking, building multi-directional anchors, the usage of runners/slings and cordelettes, methods of reducing rope drag, rope management, proper carabiner orientation and clipping, responsibilities of the leader and second, resting stances, hanging belays, natural hazards, complex anchoring systems, and route finding. Basic self-rescue (belay escapes) and retreat techniques are also taught.
No climber should be without the knowledge and ability to handle an emergency using only personal climbing gear. This course is about awareness and prevention as much as it is about reaction to a problem. Instruction is available at all skill levels and may include rappel and belay problem-solving, belay escapes, and ascending. We'll cover ways to escape the belay, ascend or descend a fixed line, methods for raising or lowering an injured partner, and ways to rappel tandem (two people on one ATC).You may register for one or two days.
All lead climbing is done while top-roped, so you can concentrate on learning the techniques. All curriculum is subject to guide's discretion. If you're serious about lead climbing, this is for you!
